Here are the final results for all events!
We are just 36 hours away from the 2011 Godai Elements Competition!
Final touches are being made, equipment is being rounded up, and sleep is not being had…! We could not be happier with the group of athletes that has signed up to join us for a day sure to be filled with PR’s, new WODs, unfamiliar movements and lots of COMMUNITY. There are athletes from Austin, Houston, San Antonio, San Marcos, Dallas, and everywhere in between (even one from Israel… yup!).
We know that many of you are coming in from out of town so please, travel safely and let us know what we can do for you when you get here. You can reach us best on twitter @godaielements or by e-mail at info@godaielements.com.
Your Event Directors this weekend are Ingrid Kantola and Michael Winchester. Our Head Judges are David Deleon and John Del Peral.
A couple of things to know before and once you arrive:
-Dress for cool morning weather, and windy sun in the afternoon.
-Bring sunblock, bug spray.
-Bring water and remember to HYDRATE all day!
-Feel free to bring food and drink, but PLEASE: NO ALCOHOL!
-The Texas Ski Ranch has been very kind in allowing us to bring in coolers, but they have kindly asked us not to allow alcohol at our event. We kindly ask you in turn to refrain from bringing it onto the premises. Alcohol will be for sale at the TSR all day!
Athletes: COME PREPARED! Bring everything you will need for the day: several changes of footwear, wrist wraps, belts, change of clothes, towel, supplements etc. It will be a long day - prepare!
Spectators: Get ready to cheer your faces off — these athletes are about to put on one hell of a show — do the thing and make some noise!

The same standards and ROM will applyfor teams as individuals.
The difference will be in how the athletes move through the WOD.
Male will start on the L-sit. Female will start on the boulder. At “go” the male must raise his feet off of the plate and maintain an L-sit. The female will then attempt AMRAP of boulder ground to shoulder. At any point in the 30 seconds, if the male’s feet touch the plate, the female will stop bouldering and return the boulder to the floor. The male can raise his feet off the plate again, and the female can continue bouldering. The only reps that will count are reps completed while the male’s feet are off the plate.
At the 30 second mark, the athletes will switch places and have 30 seconds to rest. The same rules will apply as the female holds the L-Sit and the male boulders.
The teams will then move on to the Zercher Carry and HS Walk portion. At “go” the male will start a max-effort Zercher carry and the female will start a max-effort HS walk. The score will be the shorter of the two distances traveled.
Ex: if the male Zercher carries for 25 ft and the woman HS walks for 10 ft, the team’s score will be 10.
The partners will then switch places, with the female moving to the Zercher carry and the male moving to the HS walk. They will then have 30 seconds to attempt a max-effort Zercher carry or HS walk, respectively. The team’s score will the shorter of the two distances traveled, as before.
*To score, you must cross the 5-foot line. Ex: Joe HS walks 14 feet, his score will be 10. Joe HS walks 15 feet, his score will be 15.
Godai Elements will be posting a video outlining all standards for the Godai Elements Competition Thursday.
Athletes will be responsible for showing up on Saturday morning familiar with both the WODs and the standards and ranges of motion for each workout!
If you would like to judge or volunteer please sign up ASAP!
Spectator tickets are also available for purchase!

GODAI ELEMENTS WOD #4: FIRE
For the fourth test in the Godai Elements Competition, our athletes will need to exhibit both their strongman skills and their gymnastic aptitude. Four tests of what it means to be a truly fit across all modal domains…
For Total Points:
-L-Sit Hold on Parallettes (max effort in 30 seconds).
-Atlas Stone Shouldering @ 120#/75# (max reps in 30 seconds).
-Handstand Walk (for distance in 30 seconds).
-Zercher Carry @ 315#/225# (for distance in 30 seconds).
*Each athlete will move through the gauntlet, working for 30 seconds at each station and resting for 30 seconds in between each station.*
1) The first movement will be an L-Sit on parallettes. Each athlete will position themselves on a set of parallettes, with their feet on a set of 45# bumper plates. At “go”, each athlete will take their feet off of the parallettes, holding in an “L” position for as long as possible. Time stops when they touch their feet to the plate, or at 30 seconds, whichever comes first.
1 point will be awarded for each second held in the L-Sit.
2) The second movement in the gauntlet is Atlas Stone ground to shoulder. Each athlete will have 30 seconds to get as many reps as possible with their Atlas Stone (120# for men, 75# for women). The stone will start on the ground for each rep, and will end on top of the shoulder (either shoulder is acceptable). The stone must come to rest on TOP of the shoulder (1/2 in the anterior plane, 1/2 in the posterior plane) and the athlete must show full control of the stone with hips and knees fully extended.
1 point will be awarded for each complete rep of ground to shoulder.
3) The third movement will be a Handstand Walk. Each athlete will have 30 seconds to advance as far as they can while walking on their hands. Each time the athlete comes down, they must start from the point of contact closest to the start line. (Ex: If the athlete’s feet come down closest to the startline, they must start where their feet ended, not where there hands ended. Ex. If the athlete falls forward, with feet landing in front of the hands, they will start from the spot where their hands were).
5 points will be awarded for each 5-foot interval the athlete reaches. You MUST reach each 5-foot interval for those 5 points to count. Ex: Athlete gets to 2nd marker (10 feet) = 10 points awarded. Athlete makes it 12 feet = 10 points awarded. Athlete makes it 14 feet = 10 points awarded. Athlete makes it 15 feet 15 points awarded.
4) The fourth and final movement will be a Zercher carry for max distance in 30 seconds (315#/225#). Each athlete will start with a bar in rack. At “go” they must lift the bar out of the rack in the “Zercher” position, with the bar resting in the crook of the elbows, with arms bent. The athlete then has 30 seconds to advance as far as possible in 30 seconds. Time ends at the 30 second mark or when the athlete drops the bar - whichever comes first.
For those of you who have been waiting patiently… we now announce WOD #3 for the teams:
Buy-in: 100 AbMat Situps
21-15-9:
-Snatch @ 115#/75#
-Cluster @ 115#/75#
-Burpee over barbell

-Each team will have two barbells: one set at the men’s weight, the other set at the women’s weight.

-Only one athlete may work at a time.
